Bloggiesta Update #1 - My Goals for Bloggiesta!

UPDATE #1

It's the first day of Bloggiesta, so I decided to write a post about what I plan to do for the weekend:

  • Write a few backup posts that are book related, but not actual reviews. If anyone has any ideas, I'm open to suggestions for topics.
  • Come up with a series post that I can do regularly between book reviews
  • Find someone to do a guest blog post. If you are interested, please let me know!
  • I would like to think about doing an International Blogger Event of some kind to promote community with book bloggers all over the world--possibly a read-a-long or a Sisterhood of the Traveling Book kind of thing (you send a book and local treat to the next person on the list)
  • Come up with a "business" plan with some short-term and long-term goals for my blog
  • Make some business cards
  • Get 50 followers so that I can do my first giveaway.
  • Write a post about the solution to my Feed URL not being detected so that other bloggers that have the same problem will know how to fix it!
  • Consider dropping a challenge or two that I've signed up for so that I feel more free to read whatever books I feel like reading.
  • Consider getting a gravatar
  • Network with a few bloggers that I haven't previously found through the Bloggiesta event
  • Organize my bookshelf so that I know exactly what books I have that still need to be read.

What are your goals for Bloggiesta? Please leave a comment with your blog URL so that I can come check on your goals and progress! Good luck!

great goals, I'm very excited about this weekend! :) I'll be posting my goals up later at http://theallureofbooks.blogspot.com

As an idea for book related/weekly posts...one of my favorites is The Character Connection @ The Introverted Reader every Thursday where you get to talk about your favorite book characters :) I've been having fun with it! Check it out if you're interested:

What a great list of goals! I've started on my goals this evening by updating my list of reviews. Now I'm pondering changing a bunch of things on my blog which wasn't what I had planned for the weekend! Oh, well.

P.S. Love the music!

Thanks for dropping by my blog! You have some pretty great goals up there, I think we have several in common. I also want to do more non-review posts but I need to come up with ideas first. I'll work on that this weekend. Let me know if you ever push through with an international blogger event, I'll be interested to be part of that. I live in the Philippines. :)

Good goals! Are you actually going to do all that or do you have a certain amount of time in mind (e.g., I'm going to go for 8 hours and see how far I get).

@Allison - I found you on Twitter! Now following you! I will think about the Character Connection. I need to go through and read some posts from it. I'll raid your blog in the morning and look at your posts.

@Suey - Glad you liked the music! I love Rodrigo y Gabriela. I think they actually live in Ireland or somewhere like that! I also liked your Michael Jackson song on your blog!

@Chachic - I would love to do an International Blogger Activity/Event of some kind! I feel like so many international bloggers get left out! It would be fun to network with all of you guys. I love reading international blogs. I'll work on something this weekend and get back in touch with you. By the way, I'm reading about the Phillipines some in my current book (The Pacific by Hugh Ambrose).

@leeswammes - I think I am going to try to do it all this weekend. Some are just coming up with ideas so it's not too labor intensive! I might try a few of the mini-challenges that coincide with some of my goals. We'll see. I'll keep checking in with your blog to see how you're doing!

Hi Carin - thanks for visiting my blog. I love your idea for an International Blogger Activity as I like to interact with bloggers all round the world.
I think this Bloggiesta is going to be a wonderful opportunity to meet new bloggers.

I love your eggshell profile pic!

Good luck with your to-do list. Concerning the reading challenges... you could also try to just let go of the *feeling* that you actually have to accomplish them. Establish what your favourite challenges are and read the books you feel like reading!

Nothing BAD will happen if you don't finish your challenges -- book bloggers are nice people ;)

I've joined the Bloggiesta party too!

Hey Carin :) Thank you for stopping by!

Thank you for reminding me to drop some Challenges, I do have way too many and never enough time to just read what I want!

Fantastic list! I've got a huge huge list. I'm kind of scared of it, but it's paring down pretty quick! I'm on hour 11.. I feel like my brain is turning to mush already.

So, ideas for rainy day posts (that's what I call them):

Libraries, use em?
Buying versus borrowing books
Used versus new books
paperback versus HC
Audiobooks, hate or love em?
Favorite scenes
Favorite quotes..

there's so much.. I'm astounding myself with my ability to brainstorm these.

There's a start! Have fun bloggiesta-ing!
