Unputdownables 48 Hour Read-a-Thon!

Ready for a Read-a-Thon?

Wallace at Unputdownables.net is hosting a 48 Hour Read-a-Thon this weekend (Friday evening through Sunday night). I definitely have time to read this weekend so I am signing up to whittle down my giant TBR stack!

Here are the rules:
  • Choose a few books that you will attempt to finish this weekend (Friday evening through Sunday night).
  • Post your TBR Read-a-Thon books on your blog so your readers can see what you are attempting for the weekend.
  • Challenge your readers to read along with you! (It’s OK if they don’t, but might be fun if they want to choose at least one book to participate with).
  • Join the discussion all weekend long at #bookblogchat on Twitter.
  • Post updates on your blog about what you are reading and what you have finished (full reviews can come later, but this will let your readers know what you are reading so they can either read along or look forward to your reviews!)
  • Visit other blogs that are doing the read-a-long. Post comments and follow your fellow bloggers.
  • Make sure you sign up at Unputdownables with Mr. Linky with a link to your first post so we can follow your progress!
  • *If you don’t have a blog but want to participate: Sign up with Mr. Linky, just don’t add a website (or you can link to your Twitter or GoodReads page).*
If You’re Not In, but Want to Support:
  1. Check out the blogs that are participating in the Mr. Linky list on Unputdownables.net
  2. Visit those blogs and leave comments and encouragement
  3. Add to your own TBRs as you see what others are reading!

My Read-a-Thon List

I am also wanting to listen to and read-a-long to:

In reality, I will probably only get one book done, but my big goal is to have two done by the end of the weekend. I am a notoriously slow reader so encouraging comments will definitely be appreciated! I may actually start this challenge during the day on Friday because I may have roofers at my house so I will have to vacate the premises and go somewhere to read!

Haha! I'm totally with you. My eyes are definitely bigger than my speed of reading. Oh well, at least it's fun to make the list, right? Here's to getting as far as we can! So glad you're joining in!

Good Luck! I haven't participated in a read-a-thon yet. And I still haven't read Fool Moon.

Yay you'll read Magic Bites! I hope you like it well enough to read the sequels because I really think things picked up in the later books.

@Wallace - Have you put your list up yet? I need to hit your blog to check. I didn't see it last time I looked.

@Sarah - I think you might need some reading for the plane! You should pick it up and read with me this weekend since you'll be right down I-35 from me! LOL!

@Chachic - It's going to be the first thing I start on Friday. I'm so excited about it because of you! :)

I am going to do this! This is my first readathon and I am super stoked! I don't usually do them, but you made it sound so fun and I think I am up for the challenge. Can't wait to read about your progress with these books.

It has taken me two years and counting to finish Middlemarch. :-/

A big yay for your books. I've read Magic Bites but not the sequels yet. I love the Jim Butcher series too :) Such an awesome series.

Thanks for making me aware of this event Carin, I had no idea, but will sign up now :-) I will also have plenty of tiem to read this weekend as we'll go away for a 3 day long mini vacation, however I won't have internet, so will think how to solve that.

Thanks againa nd good luck with your reading, Magic Bites is GREAT! Enjoy it! :-D

@Constance Reader - Yay! I'm so glad you are joining in! I will definitely be checking your blog this weekend to see how you are doing on the read-a-thon! Do you know what books you are reading? @Nymeth is having a Middlemarch read-a-long next month I think. I am participating with The Literary Lollipop's read-a-long now, but I am REALLY behind. I might try to catch up this weekend.

@agirlreads - I think EVERYONE likes Magic Bites. Ilona Andrews is coming to my city next month too for ArmadilloCon, but it costs $50 so I don't know if I am going to go. I put the book on the top of my list to see if I'm going to become a superfan and fork over the cash to get an autograph! hehe

@Stella - Oooo...a mini-vacation. I think I'm a little jealous! hehe! I think someone else is out of town this weekend and Wallace said that it was fine to still participate (try checking the comments on her blog--I know they talked about it in the comments). Can't wait to see what you are reading too!

Good luck! I will try to read a lot this weekend too, but I'm not going to sign up because I have a date Friday (yay!) and might also be going to see a movie with a girlfriend this weekend. But having just finished a Chunkster last night, I'm eager to read a couple of short books!

I know I have too much "life" to deal with this weekend to have a hope of finishing even one book. LOL..too bad I will have finished Dragon Drums by then...it's such a fast read!

Carin said...

@Scrabblequeen - We'll see if I even finish one book! I don't know if I've ever finished one in a day. I'm going to try my best though! I haven't read Dragondrums in a VERY long time. I need to pick up the Pern series again for a re-read. :)

@Other Carin - LOL! I didn't see your comment because we have the same name. I saw "Carin" and thought it was me. Yay for you going out on Friday! What movie are you going to see? There are so many out right now that I want to see. What chunkster did you finish? I am definitely due for some short books. I feel like this year I have read so many long books (although Middlemarch is on my list this weekend and it's pretty sizeable). I will mostly likely only finish one book, but I'm going to try very hard to do two!

Somehow I missed Middlemarch on your list of to-reads this weekend (how did I do that?). That is on my someday list, so I want to hear what you think when you finish (whenever that may be)!

Hmmmm... now I need to check out Magic Bites -- sounds like I am not in the know about a good thing.

P.S. My list is up now, but you know that. I hadn't seen this yet or I would have told you. :)
